Fall Vocal Concert
Mason is in 3rd grade this year, and so this is the 3rd vocal concert of his school career. This is the first year he was able to get past his anxiety and perform. I was so proud! He was very serious the whole time -no smiles. He did have a cute speaking part... here he is ready in front of the microphone.
And when walking off stage at the end, we see a little of his personality...

Illumifest
This was our 2nd year attending Illumifest in West Des Moines. They had free carnival rides, music, an outdoor movie, and food... as well as hot air balloons! Last year the line was so long we didn't even try, but this time we were 2nd in line and waited for about an hour. All 4 of us got to go up in the balloon on the left side; we didn't go too high as the balloons were tethered, but what an experience. You can see the kids' expressions while we were in the basket!

Today
Today is the funeral of my great-grandma Hazel. She was born October 10, 1900 and passed away September 11, 2009. She was 108 years old.

Life
What to say? It's been awhile since I wrote. We've been very busy since then with all kinds of activities. Life keeps going even amidst frustration and disappointment. It's been somewhat of a struggle lately. I won't go into details, but I just haven't felt like keeping this blog up to date. I'm not sure if I'll keep going or not. I guess time will tell. And hopefully time will improve things.
